Beyonce chops off all her hair: Singer debuts fierce new pixie cut

Beyonce, who is known for her trademark honey-colored tresses, has ditched her long hair for an edgier short pixie cut.

To show off her new look, Queen Bey, 31, posted photos on Instagram on Wednesday, showing herself gazing in a mirror and feeling the back of her head where her long hair used to be.

The new hairdo comes just two weeks after her blond tresses got tangled in the blades of a fan during a performance of “Halo” in Montreal on July 22. Perhaps she’s taking some new safety precautions.

Other stars who have rocked the pixie cut in the past include Rihanna, Michelle Williams and Anne Hathaway and, of course, Miley Cyrus.

Matt Damon Joins Christopher Nolan's 'Interstellar,' Lines Up Directorial Debut 'The Foreigner'

So is Matt Damon reuniting with Paul Greengrass for another ‘Bourne’ film? While Twitch says yes, Universal Studios is denying their report. While we wait and see what shakes out, some surprising Damon-related news arrived when we turned to our trusted sources (you’ll remember we first reported on Greengrass leaving the 'Bourne 4' back in the day). But enough preamble...

The Playlist has learned that Matt Damon has joined Christopher Nolan’s “Interstellar” in a small, undisclosed role. The character, like all of the roles in the film, is being kept under wraps, but sources close to the actor tell us he’ll only be shooting on the project for two weeks in Iceland (for comparison sake, the entire shoot is scheduled for four months). It's another quick appearance for Damon in a forthcoming film, as he also has a small cameo in Terry Gilliam’s “The Zero Theorem,” which debuts at the Venice Film Festivalvery soon (look for our review in the upcoming days).

Meanwhile, Damon looks to have found what will be his directorial debut: “A Murder Foretold," penned by Academy Award-winning “Argo” screenwriter Chris Terrio. The film is based off a 2008 New Yorker articleby David Grann, that tells the true story of a man who is gunned down in the escalating violence in Guatemala, and leaves behind a videotape after his death implicating the president, his wife, and other close aides in his killing. Of course, this rocked the nation, with a special prosecutor who digs deep to find the shocking truth behind the man's murder. The project is currently set up at Paramount and Indian Paintbrush under Steve Zaillan’s Film Rites production banner. (Update: Following our report, Deadlinehas revealed the title of the movie to be "The Foreigner.")

As you might remember, Damon was supposed to direct “Promised Land” in the beginning of 2012, but reshoots on “Elysium” overlapped into the time he had planned to do pre-production work on the movie. Knowing his schedule would be too tight, Damon made the early decision to bow out and found a replacement in friend and filmmaker Gus Van Sant. It was Damon's third time working with him, and having worked with helmers like Martin Scorsese, Robert De Niro, Terry Gilliam, Steven Soderbergh, Clint Eastwood and many other auteurs, he's been itching to join his friend Ben Affleck in trying his hand at directing. (Damon is also attached to "Father Daughter Time" at Warner Bros. though it looks like 'Foretold' is going first.)

So some exciting plans on the horizon for Damon, but before we go, here's one last bit of "Interstellar" trivia: celebrated Indian actor Irrfan Khan ("Life Of Pi," "The Amazing Spider-Man") turned down a role in Nolan's film. "I was in talks with them for an important role. It had a great compact cast, but I can't divulge much about that. They expected a huge commitment from my end. I had to stay in the U.S. for four months at a stretch. I tried to work out my schedule and suggested if I could shuttle between India and the U.S. as it wouldn't have been possible for me to be there for that long," he told The Times Of Indi. "I wanted to be here for 'The Lunchbox' and 'D-Day.' They couldn't allow that. I don't have a tendency to regret what I do, but knowing it's a Christopher Nolan film, I can say that this has been one of the most difficult decisions I've made."

Supermodel "Yui" admitted to mental institute

The Social Development and Human Security Ministry has extended its assistance to famous Thai model Rojjana (Yui) Phetkanha, who was admitted to a mental institute on Sunday.

The former supermodel was found wandering on Phetkasem Road, carrying a plastic bag. She was apparently disoriented and confused. She was admitted to the Somdetchaopraya Institute of Psychiatry.Social Development and Human Security Minister Pavena Hongsakul visited her at the hospital.

Pavena told reporters that the ministry has contacted her family and checked if it is able to take care of the model. The ministry is also ready to provide a shelter and treatment, if her family cannot. 

"She talked sensibly to me and said she wanted to meet her brother," Pavena said. Rojjana is the first Thai model to make it big on the world stage. She was born to a farmer’s family in Ubon Ratchathani. Joining the model world 16 years ago, she was a covergirl, the face of a Chanel perfume and shuttling between New York, Paris, London and Milan. But with fame and fortune came parties and drugs, which led to her downfall.

Rapper Sean Kingston sued for alleged gang rape, report says.

Well-known rapper Sean Kingston is being sued for allegedly gang raping a teenage female back in 2010, TMZ reports.

The woman claims that Kingston, his bodyguard and a member of his band, raped her while she was drunk in a Seattle hotel room after a Justin Bieber concert. Kingston also performed at the Bieber show. 

In the suit, the woman states she thought she was going to have a meet-and-greet with Kingston, but when she arrived at the hotel room she was forced to have sex with the rapper and his associates. She was later treated at a hospital for injuries consistent with rape, according to TMZ.

The woman is now suing Kingston and the other two men for $5 million. The rapper insists the sex was consensual.

Criminal charges against Kingston—relating to the same incident—were dropped back in 2010.

Four school boys pray at a spirit-house shrine and vow to perform a traditional dance if they are successful in their various endeavours.

Trouble is, none of them know much about tradition nor dancing but they do believe in superstition. They seek help from an unconventional traditional-dance performer.

The coming-of-age drama is the latest effort from Kongdej Jaturanrasamee, a writer-director who's known for his quirky movies like "Midnight My Love" and "Handle Me With Care" as well as last year's award-winning psychological comedy-drama "P-047".

"White House Down" - Roland Emmerich ("Independence Day") blows up Washington again in this disaster blockbuster. It follows another president-in-peril picture from earlier this year, "Olympus Has Fallen". Here, Channing Tatum is the protector of the prez, who's played by Jamie Foxx.

"Vehicle 19" - "Fast and Furious" star Paul Walker trades in his tuned Suburu for a non-descript minivan in this action-drama set in South Africa. He gets into a rented vehicle that was intended for someone else. Then a stranger's cellphone rings and he finds a gun under the seat. An unconscious woman rolls out of the cargo hold in the back and it's off to the races.

"Make Your Move" - K-pop meets "Coyote Ugly" and "Dirty Dancing" in this tale of star-crossed romance. Derek Hough and South Korean singer BoA star. Duane Adler, writer of "Step Up" and "Save the Last Dance", directs.

"Satyagraha" - Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor star in this sweeping Bollywood political drama about a middle-class uprising. It's in Hindi with English and Thai subtitles at Paragon and Major Cineplex Sukhumvit, Rama III and Pattaya.

Kanye West stops by Kris Jenner's talk show for interview.

(EW.com) -- Kris Jenner worked her magic — and familial connections, of course — to land an interview with the typically media-shy Kanye West, the father of her granddaughter North. Kanye stopped by the set of Kris on Monday to tape an hour-long interview that will air this week

West, who welcomed his first child with girlfriend Kim Kardashian in June, opens up to Jenner about his baby girl, falling in love with Kim, and dealing with the press.

He also addresses President Obama's comments last month about how celebrities like Kanye and Kim have shifted the idea of the American dream. "There was not that window into the lifestyles of the rich and famous," the president said at the time. "Kids weren't monitoring every day what Kim Kardashian was wearing, or where Kanye West was going on vacation, and thinking that somehow that was the mark of success."

Ringing up the jackpot.

Thai rockers Slot Machine put the finishing touches to their fifth studio album.

With four hit albums and a wealth of music awards to their credit, Thai rockers Slot Machine could afford to take it easy for a while. But kicking back and chilling out is apparently not on the cards for the four-piece outfit who hit the big time back in 2008 with the hit album "Grey". The band will soon release its fifth studio album and is already making waves with the first cut, the catchy "Rung" (Rainbow), which they introduced to excited fans in their set at last Saturday's "Sonic Bang" festival.

Vocalist Setthapong "First" Durongjirakarn, guitarist Jenvit "Vit" Chanpanyawong, bassist Atirath "Kak" Pintong and drummer Settharat "Auto" Phangchunan got together nine years ago and over the years have won fans' hearts with such tracks as "Ror", "Pan", "Fan" and "Kham Sud Thai". Their 2011 album "Cell" spawned another wave of hits, among them "Neua Karn Wela", "Suan Dok Mai" and "Ratree Rai Nam", and won them recognition at the Season and Kom Chad Luek Awards. 

For their latest offering, they've joined up with Australian producer, composer, and sound engineer Daniel Denholm, a man who's produced everyone from the Bee Gees to Midnight Oil.

"We met Daniel through [Bec-Tero] executive Neil Thompson. Neil used to work in the music industry so when we asked him to help us find a good producer, he immediately came up with Daniel," says First.

It's not the first time Slot Machine has picked a foreign engineer: For their 2008 release "Mutation", they worked with Scott Andrew Moffatt, who has also produced Thai outfits Mint, Brandnew Sunset, Getsunova and Apartment Khunpa.

Their latest album is being recorded at the Karma Sound Studios in Chon Buri, a venue chosen in the past by big international names like Jamiroquai, Placebo and Bullet For My Valentine. The tracks are then sent to the US for mixing by British sound engineer Tim Palmer before being mastered at Sterling Sound in New York.

"We've worked hard to develop all aspects of this album," says First. "I won't say it's better than our previous outings but it's certainly more beautiful. I think of it as a sculpture, a work of art to which great care is given but without wasting any time. We're a bit like scientists testing new experiences all the time, though the album is still very much rock.

First also wrote the first cut "Rung" and describes it as a song that encourages people facing obstacles in their lives to look forward and keep moving. 

"It's inspired by the Thai idiom 'A good beginning makes a good ending' and refers to the Buddha's teachings about Nirvana, the real happiness. That's a little like a rainbow: it doesn't last forever and not everyone can see it but when you are at peace with yourself, you accept the truth in your life and that's your real happiness," says First.

The album is now about 70 per cent complete and Slot Machine is working hard with Denholm on laying down the remaining tracks before it goes off for mixing.

The album is scheduled to be in stores by the end of the year.
